Empowering Afghan Seniors through technology and Community.

New Horizons for Seniors is designed to help older newcomers build confidence, stay connected and participate more fully in their communities. Through culturally sensitive awareness and learning sessions, Human Relief Mission provides Afghan seniors with practical information and skills that can help them navigate life in Canada.
New Horizons creates a space where Afghan seniors can learn, ask questions and connect with others in a culturally sensitive environment. The program addresses practical areas of everyday life, including Canadian laws and seniors' rights, healthcare access, financial literacy, social services, healthy aging, housing and care options, volunteerism and civic engagement.
The program has also expanded into digital literacy, helping seniors become more comfortable using smartphones, computers, online services and digital communication tools. Participants learn practical skills that can help them communicate with family and friends, access community and government services and navigate an increasingly digital society.
